to Earl and Julia Thompson on Cherokee Indian land that had been allotted to her Dad. She
moved to Yuma, CO when she was nine. She lived there until she met Warren Dorrance whom
she married after a month long courtship on August 31, 1941. They were married for 56 years.
After they were married they moved east to Wray Colorado where they had the first of three
sons. Garry Lee Dorrance was born on June 26, 1942. Life was tough in Wray so Lois and
Warren decided to move to Los Angeles California where Warren’s uncle lived. It was there
on July 29, 1943 that Lyle Ray Dorrance, their second son, was born. Lois got homesick so
they moved back to Wray where they lived until 1947 before moving to Denver where they
resided until 1950 when they moved to Leyden Colorado, an old mining town west of Denver.
It was in Leyden that Lois got the surprise of her life, her third son Mark Alan Dorrance born on
April 8, 1953. The family moved to Arvada, CO because Warren needed more room for his
trucks and Lois wanted a house with walls that didn’t move in and out when the wind blew, and
she wanted her sons closer to school.
Lois was like most women of that era. She took care of her home and family and was the
president of the PTA. She did a lot of charity work and was involved in her church. She
worked outside the home when her husband needed her help keeping the books for their
business. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, four brothers, her husband, her son
Garry, and his son Robert. She is survived by her two sons; Lyle and Mark, their wives, 10
grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She went to meet Jesus on
April 17, 2019. She was wonderful woman and we thank God for her life and the privilege of
being part of it.
