

Gil was born on August 31st, 1936 to Lee and Elva Duran in Terrero, New Mexico. He grew up in Trinidad, Colorado until he joined the Navy from 1954-1958. He was newly discharged from the Navy when he bumped into Barbara Lopez. He said she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He had traveled all over the world and he found her in the same place they both grew up. They were married for 66 years and had two daughters, Debbie and Michelle. He ran a general contracting and a bail bonding business for several decades. He and Barbara enjoyed traveling. He also found joy in hunting, fishing and being with family and friends. He was an honest, loving and God fearing man.
Gil is survived by his loving wife Barbara; Daughters, Debbie (Tim) Griego and Michelle (John) Sedillo. He had five adoring grandchildren, Nick Griego, Samantha Griego, Mariah Ayala, John Sedillo Jr., and Sabrina Cummings. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary in the Pavilion of Reflection, located at 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, on December 15, 2025 at 10:00 am. A reception will follow at 11:00 am.
Gil will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:00 pm in a ceremony with Military Honors.
