

She was born February 23, 1922, in Shields, Kansas, the daughter of George and Maude (Kackley) Maddy. Louise earned her bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Iowa in Speech Pathology. She lived in the Denver area from 1953 to 1997, moved to Parachute, CO, until 2010 and then moved to Manhattan, KS where she lived until her passing.
On December 29, 1944, Louise married Robert Wayne Winter, DDS. in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mrs. Winter was a charter member of the Rolling Hills Country Club in Golden, Colorado, a member of the First Presbyterian Church while living in Arvada, a member of the Grand Valley United Methodist Church while in Parachute, and a member of P.E.O (Philanthropic Educational Organization). She enjoyed volunteering in her church, singing in the church choir, golfing, gardening, playing bridge, traveling and reading. Louise's greatest joy was the time spent with her family and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara in 1963, her husband Wayne in 1999, and two sisters, Marian Knight and Bernese Ward.
Survivors include her three sons: Dr. Robert Winter and his wife Donna of Grand Island, NE, Dr. Daniel Winter and his wife Gretchen of Manhattan, KS, and Jon Winter and his wife Terri of Douglas, WY; nine grandchildren: Matthew Winter, Barbara Phillips, Melissa Winter, Maggie Chapman, Mollie Winter, Maddy Rader, Blaine Winter, Hollie Winter and Ballee Winter; and one great-grandson Decker Chapman.
Cremation is planned with memorial services to be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 4, 2014, at the Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church, 7530 W. 38th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO, with Reverend Bob Toll officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO.
