69, passed away on February 14, 2013 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Luanne Isenmann came into the world on October 5th 1943, as the 2nd child of Gene and Trudie Isenmann. Luanne was born in Denver and lived her life in Denver until her passing on February 14th 2013. Fast forward to 1945 when I came into the world on November 2nd . Now that I am here I can give you my thoughts about Luanne on her journey through life. I forgot to mention my older brother Gene Jr. born December 9th 1939. I did that on purpose because he always ignored me. I am sorry he passed way too early in life.
In the early times we lived in North Denver at 2740 Mead Street. Luanne attended Edison Elementary School and as you may guess she got much better grades than I. It was at this time in her life when she found some lifelong friends from our neighborhood, their names Penny and Anne and they continued that friendship until Luanne’s passing.
She did her Junior high schooling at Lake Junior high also in our immediate neighborhood----again great grades.
In 1959 we relocated to Arvada CO., a suburb of Denver. Luanne attended Arvada High school and graduated in 1961. During this time Luanne began to enjoy Water skiing and did it weekly in the summer. In high school I noticed that Luanne became very conscious of her hair, makeup and clothes. She wanted to always present a good appearance and that never changed.
It wasn’t long and she landed a good job with a company called American Crystal Sugar Company in a regional office in downtown Denver as secretary for the management group. She worked there about 10 years. In the early 1970’s she moved to another similar position with DuPont in their explosives division at a facility just South of Denver--- way out in the country. Within 10 years or maybe a few more this office was closed. Fortunately a customer of DuPont’s, also in the explosive and mining business, offered her a very good position where she worked until her retirement in 2000.
With she and Myron retired they had time to travel and do things they liked. Some of their favorite things were:
Her cat Buddy who Rick, Carole and I have been tending to while she was away this past month. He’s missing her a lot and hope to have a good home for her soon. She enjoyed spending time with her Sister-in-law Donna, her step-son Ricky and his wife Sarah, sons Steven and Trevor and also the times she talked to her step-son Bret. Fishing and camping with their motor home and boat. Mostly in Wyoming and Montana. I forgot to mention Bowling earlier as Luanne and Myron were Professional type bowlers and enjoyed it thoroughly. Meeting Friends at the Elks club. Playing cards in the evening with their close friends—in fact she played cards with Carole and Rick Vossenkemper the Friday before she was hospitalized on Jan. 21.
Enjoyed Broncos football. Her big passion was Gambling-----especially scratch and Lotto tickets but she also would venture to Laughlin NV with her good friend Carole. She also looked forward to her weekly visit with Jen to watch Survivor.
In her declining years and after her husband passed, we drew closer as a family as she was alone. She became extremely close with my wife Paulette and our twin boys—Steve and especially Scott who would buy scratch tickets for her, and between Paulette and Scott they could help get her where ever she needed to be. As for me I got her groceries and brought home cooked meals weekly and of course I got the wine and beer.
To bring this to a close I need to tell you just how strong and tough Luanne was. During her long struggle with her Stage 4 COPD and that disease’s ability to take away her mobility and quality of life, Luanne never once complained, and stayed positive until the very end. The unfair thing that absolutely breaks my heart is that her mind was sound as a dollar, and was extremely smart, observant and knew exactly what was happening to the very end. She fought for every minute she could get out of her life until her body wore out. I only hope I can be half as brave as Luanne when my time comes.
Her loving Brother Butch and her family and friends who are missing her very much.
She is survived by her brother Bill (Paulette) Isenmann, step-son's, Bret Moore, and Ricky (Sarah) Moore, step-great grandsons, Steven and Trevor Moore, nephews; Jeff (Lisa) Isenmann, Steve Isenmann, and Scott Isenmann. She was preceded in death by her husband Myron Moore, and a brother Gene Isenmann.
Visitation Wednesday, February 20th, from 4pm to 7pm at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary. Services Thursday, 9:30am, in the Chapel of Peace located on the grounds of Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery. Her final resting place will be at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers her family has requested memorial contributions may be made in her name to Exempla Lutheran Hospice at Collier Center, 3210 Lutheran Pkwy, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033-6005.
