Lucille was born to Salvatore and Anna Iannacito, Oct. 8, 1922, in Denver, CO. She graduated from North High School in 1940, then on to Barnes Business School, where she became a master at typing and short hand. She married Frank Sanzolone February 24, 1946 in Denver Colorado. They lived in Lucille’s family home giving birth to five children. Lucille and Frank moved in 1959 to a new home in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. After Lucille broke her hip at 90 years of age they left their home of 54 years. The last 6 years she has been independently living at the Meridian, where she enjoyed once again dressing to the nines, socializing, meeting new friends, reuniting with old friends, playing bridge, going to happy hour and having the pleasure of being one of the community’s favorite residents, welcoming one and all to her place for food and drinks regularly.
She leaves as her legacy of 4 children: Rick Sanzolone (Leanne), Anne Conley (Tim), Jeff Sanzolone (Marilyn), Sandee Sanzolone (Keene Tomsyck).
10 grandchildren: Casey Conley (Chelsea), Tyler Conley (Kendal), Keegan Conley, Lindsay Silvey (Preston), Frank, Jeff and Jackie Sanzolone, Addie and Mallory Tomsyck.
5 great-grandchildren: Kellen and Mason Conley, Beckham, Zoey and Kenna Conley.
Lucille was a mom to 5 children. After the death of her son, she followed her skills to become an executive secretary at Rocky Flats, retiring with great benefits. She was able to lead a quality independent life watching and loving her growing family until her death. She did survive cancer in her 60’s, and two separate hip fractures one at 90yrs old and one at 94.
We were blessed she lived on past these difficulty times in her life, which she had many, to enjoy the love of her family and see all of God’s blessings. She was truly grateful, something she wrote in all her cards and letters.
She was preceded in death by her mother Anna, son Frank Sanzolone Jr, her father Salvatore, husband Frank Sanzolone, brother George Iannacito. Most recently the tragic loss of her great-granddaughter Everlee Anne Silvey.
She writes in a letter she sent to each individual family member, that in writing she wanted to express her love. That was 2006. I think she was thinking that she was nearing her end. She said multiple times in the next 13 years: “I never dreamed I’d live this long”. Not wanting to be a burden, independent, with gratitude and abundance for all those she loved and for the blessing that God gave her.
Mom writes in her letter in 2006 to her living children about Frankie:
“We all have to believe that Frankie is happy with God and that he is there waiting for us. How else could we survive without having faith!! We will never forget him and we will always remember how much love and happiness he gave to us. Our memories of him can never be taken from us. They are precious and we will always keep them close in our hearts. I pray someday to see Frankie again. Death has no fear for me now because he’s up there waiting!!”
Mom we know you got this gift this Mother’s Day. And take your words as solace for us left here.
You will be GREATLY missed by all!! But your spirit and love of family and friends lives on in each of us.
A Catholic Mass will be held Monday May 20, 2019 at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church at 11:00 am. We will then have a Celebration of her life at 12:30 at the Sons and Daughters of Italy.
