Mac Arthur Morrissey was born November 1, 1990, in Denver, Colorado, to parents, Mary Morrissey and Arthur (Archie) Gonzales. Mac grew up in Aurora, attending school at Iowa Elementary, Mrachek Middle School and Rangeview High School.
Mac was active in scouting, loving the camping and activities. Recreational soccer was a favorite activity for several years and he also wrestled for Mrachek, taking 3rd place in a city tournament. In high school, Mac’s interests led him to weight-lifting and body-building. He set state records in power-lifting, one time breaking the record he himself had set.
As a teen and young adult, Mac was an active participant in his church family at Parkview UCC in Aurora. He attended National Youth Events in Tennessee and Connecticut, helped family and fellow church members with landscaping, farm and yard work.
Mac was all about relationships and the age did not matter: meeting and holding newborn babies, visiting elderly friends in the nursing home, being the only kid at lunch with church members, attending memorial services for fellow church members, going for coffee with Grandpa and “the guys,” and most importantly, spending time with his huge extended family.
Throughout his life, Mac was one who championed the underdog. He would go out of his way to help anyone in need. In the last several years Mac struggled with mental illness, and even through his personal battles he tried desperately to stay in touch with friends and family, calling his mom, sister, grandma, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Mac passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2024. He was preceded in death by his Grandpa Mac, his Aunt Vesta, his stepfather Paul Renner, great grandparents, several great aunts, uncles, and church friends. Mac is survived by his mom Mary, his sister Megan Hubbell, nephew Henry, niece Elizabeth, his grandma Bev Morrissey, uncles and aunts Mark (Renae) Morrissey, Dan Morrissey, Amy Fleshman, Dee Morrissey and Doug Fleshman, lots of cousins, great uncles, and aunts.
