

It is with great sadness that our Mum, a longtime 49 year resident of Broomfield, Colorado, Margaret Faulkenburg passed away on March 19, 2023 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 25, 1938 in Edinburgh, Scotland, to Simon McLean Imrie and Lilian “Lily” Fairbairn.
Margaret graduated high school at the age of 15 years old and went to work the next day at a print shop located in Edinburgh, Scotland. She held very few jobs in her 85 years. Her second position was at a biscuit shop. She worked as a cook in a school, and a Chambermaid at the Old Waverly Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland. She also worked for a shoe company in Blytheville, Arkansas. Her last position was in America was at “Ma Bell”, known as “Mother Bell” who changed their name to AT & T, then Lucent, then Nokia for 29 years and retired in 2003 as a Repair Technician at the age of 64 ½ years old.
She met Bill Joe Faulkenburg while he was in the United States Airforce based in Scotland. They met through her girlfriend on a blind date. They married when Margaret was 21 years old, on June 23, 1959 in Edinburgh, Scotland. She immigrated to America on January 23, 1961 accompanying her husband Bill Joe, and their first born son Gary. She traveled with her husband throughout the United State while he served in the United States Airforce. Three more sons were born to this union her second son James, third son Brian and fourth son Paul. When the conflict of the Vietnam War began, Margaret returned to Scotland to be with family while her husband served. Upon her husband’s return they all returned to America settling in Broomfield, Colorado in 1974. They were married for 42 years, and she was widowed for 22 years, never finding a better love than her husband Bill Joe.
Margaret was scared of horses, however that never deterred her from buying one and on Oct 02, 1993 she purchased her first horse he was 4 ½ months old and named him Thunder, he was ½ Arabian and ½ Anglo-Arabian. She also loved her other dogs, and cats she had throughout the years. She loved to be with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild, loved to knit and crochet. In her younger years she would crochet blankets for the residents of the Broomfield Senior Nursing Home and she loved shopping at the local thrift shops in the area. Her favorite flowers were carnations.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Bill Joe Faulkenburg of Broomfield, CO, and her son Paul Allen Faulkenburg of Broomfield, CO. Her father Simon Imrie and mother Lilian Fairbairn Imrie, of Edinburgh, Scotland.
She is survived by her sons Gary Faulkenburg (Tammy Criswell) of Erie, PA, James Faulkenburg of Broomfield, CO, Brian Faulkenburg (Luwana) of Greeley, CO, Grandson Ted Faulkenburg (Jessica Meddles) of Las Vegas, NV, Grand daughter Audrey Faulkenburg (Tony Sanchez ) of Denver, CO, Great Granddaughter Payton Faulkenburg of Las Vegas, NV, and many more family, friends.
