Marian, 83, of Aurora, Colorado passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Chelsea Place Memory Care, Aurora, CO after a protracted battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Scranton, PA to George and Ruth Reed. Her two younger sisters, Doris and Ellen, preceded her in death. Marian is survived by her husband, Jim, and her three children Brenda (and son-in-law Eric), Wayne, and Sandra. She is survived by six grandchildren: Brandon, Joshua, Jacob, Adam, Mathew, and Nicole (along with their spouses) and two great grandchildren Imogen and Dresden. She is survived by her closest cousin, Betsy Henry-Stultz, her three sisters-in-law, Pat, Debbie, and Kathy, and her life-long friend Pamela Bass.
Marian attended Cooper Elementary School, North Scranton Junior High School, and Technical High School in Scranton, PA. Marian worked for the State of Colorado; first at Auraria Community College, then as an Accountant Technician for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She retired in July 2003.
Marian and Jim met in 1979 at Rocky Mountain Christian Singles, which met Sunday mornings at Furr’s Cafeteria in Cherry Creek Mall, Denver. They were married February 8, 1980 and were wed just short of 45 years. Marian and Jim lived in Federal Heights, Colorado Springs, Conifer, Ignacio, and finally Aurora, CO.
Marian loved to travel and she treasured her vacations with Jim. Together they visited all the states except LA, MS, ND, & SD. The countries they visited were the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Greece, Scotland, Canada, Israel, and New Zealand. Jim took Marian on his business trips to visit construction projects, attend bid conferences, ground breakings, grand openings, trade conferences, and company social events.
Marian was a member of the Bible Study Fellowship while in the Durango area and after 2020 continued to fellowship online. She was a member of the Southwest Colorado Republican Women. She volunteered for the Pregnancy Center in Durango. Marian would comfort women in the various organizations and churches she attended. Marian’s hobbies were traveling, reading, bible study, quilting, painting, and ceramics.
Marian’s school age nickname was “Giggles”. In her adult life, Marian was described by several people as being the “Happiest Woman in the World”. She was always smiling and her laughter was endearing and contagious . She enjoyed comedies and sit-coms. Marian was a great companion and the best friend to her husband Jim.

A celebration of life for Marian will be held Friday, June 13, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033.
