Marilyn Monson, 91, was a retired elementary school teacher, who taught for 31 years in the San Matteo, California school district. She was a graduate of Brigham Young University. A talented musician and teacher in elementary school music programs, she played the piano, sang and directed various choirs and glee clubs. An avid outdoorswoman and nature lover, she especially enjoyed hiking and travel that often involved hiking (Western United States, Canadian Rockies, Peru). For several decades she was a volunteer at the Museum of Nature & Science in Denver. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many volunteer positions with the church in Northern California and Colorado, including teaching (especially children) and music-related positions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Ovard and John Paul Monson, and her brothers Marvin, Dale and Bruce. She is survived by her brother David.
Services: Saturday, March 21 at 4:30 pm at the Crestmoor Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 740 Hudson Street, Denver.
Internment: Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Utah.
