Marion Lee “Jack” Loveall passed away at his home on Thursday, January 20, 2011. The son of Silas Marion Loveall and the former Etta Rebecca Willis, Jack was born in Morningside, Iowa, on April 16, 1919.
Jack served his country with distinction as a member of the United States Army in the Pacific Theater of World War II. Wounded in friendly fire, he received a Purple Heart and an honorable discharge from the service. When he returned stateside, Jack married his childhood sweetheart, the former Rowena Hazel Ulrich. To this union were born Jack “Butch” Lee,
Terry Allen, David Edward, and Donna Lynn.
Throughout his life, Jack remained active in service to his community. From 1951 to 1978, he was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He also served as a leader for his local Cub and Boy Scouts and as a deacon at Garden Home Community Church.
Jack and Rowena were blessed with the gift of hospitality. Family, friends, and acquaintances (all who fast became friends) were always welcomed into their home. A gifted if somewhat tangential storyteller, Jack regaled his guests with tales of his Modoc-then-Cherokee heritage, his experiences in Asia, and most importantly, his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his brother, Logan Rawllins; his sister, Mildred Kitze; his mother and father; and his great-great-granddaughter, Jaiden Main.
Left to continue his legacy are his children Butch and Darla of Udall, Kansas; Terry and Brenda of Cedaredge, Colorado; David and Muriel of Sheldon, Iowa; and Donna and Patrick of Denver; his sister-in-law Joanne Freyback; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and the many others who shared his company.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Janaury 27 from 5 - 7 pm. Funeral service, Friday, Janaury 28, 9 am, at Olinger Crown Hill, W 29th and Wadsworth. Committal to follow. Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, CO.
