Martha Sundgren, Mon, Grandma and Great Grandma 89, passed peacefully Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Kidron Bethel Healthcare. Martha was the 8th of 16 children born to John B and Jessie Goering and is survived by four remaining siblings John (Orletta), Leonard (Delores), Joan Epp (Tony), and Harry (Rosie) and a close sister in Law Rosie Brandt (Ray)
She is loved and sadly missed by her children, Michael, Shippenburg, PA, John (Janie), Merced, CA, Mardi Hamburger (LeRoy), Golden, CO, and Melanie Florine (Don) of Roxbury, KS, as well as 6 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Archer Sundgren and two great grandchildren Sam Perks and Becky Florine.
Martha was an industrious and resolute but loving and forgiving person. She always brought a thoughtful, positive and uplifting spirit into any group she was in. She ventured into many different endeavors in her life, operating a pre-school in Ellsworth, KS, working and eventually running a bowling center in Lindsborg, KS and finally becoming a most sought after seamstress of bridal gowns in Denver, CO all the while keeping family at the forefront. Her cinnamon rolls and homemade egg noodles were to die for and she loved to “flip” flapjacks whenever kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were around. She became an avid sports fan following Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies and was found to be having lots of fun watching “whatever was on ESPN”. She loved to play games; board games, card games, dominos, and of course her beloved scrabble—and SHE KEPT SCORE.
She loved to win at games but never kept score in life. She’s a welcome addition to Heaven.
