Marvin Toshio Morimoto, 72, of Broomfield, CO passed away on February 24, 2021. Marvin was born on May 22, 1948 in Denver, CO to the late Yoshie Dorothy Shigemur and Sam Shigel Morimoto. His childhood was spent in California, Arizona and the Denver Metro Area. He was Japanese and Native American descent.
Marvin began serving in the United States Army in 1968. He served in both Vietnam and Germany. As a Specialist in Vietnam, Marvin distinguished himself in military operations against a hostile force. Marvin received a Presidential Citation and was awarded The Bronze Star Medal; for which he was very proud. Marvin was Honorably Discharged in July, 1974.
After leaving the Service, Marvin lived for a time in Los Angeles, CA and eventually returned to Denver.
Marvin held an Associate Degree from CCD, Denver, but also received various Certificates in different disciplines, including from business school and special training received during his Military Service. A lifelong learner he enjoyed reading the encyclopedia and in his later years he enjoyed his Bible Studies.
Marvin loved art and remained an active artist throughout his life. He enjoyed sketching and painting and experimenting with different mediums. He even taught a sketching class at the VA where he had several good friends. He enjoyed the beauty of the mountains but he also had a special appreciation for the beauty of fashion. Marvin enjoyed jewelry making, a craft he learned from his Mother.
As he got older, Marvin embraced new technologies; he enjoyed his tablets, smartphone and was quick to learn.
While always humble, Marvin was proud of his accomplishments, honest about his feelings and unafraid to speak his mind. He met all of his challenges with an open mind and open heart and he made a friend every place went. In his final years, Marvin enjoyed taking the Accessor-Ride to downtown Denver, to have dinner and enjoy the company of his close friend Julie.
Little things: Marvin loved collecting coins and baseball cards. Along with art, Marvin loved music. One of Marvin's nicknames was "M&M". His favorite movie was "Magnificent 7" (He loved Westerns). His favorite food was Japanese food while his favorite dessert were donuts. When he was young; he loved to drive to the mountains, take pictures and do his art. He enjoyed pop culture!
Marvin's Advice For Life: "Don't be to anxious for the future, take it and accept it as it Comes"
He is survived by many friends and will always be missed and fondly remembered.
