

Mary Lou was born in 1932 near Hoisington, Kansas. Her family relocated to Denver when she was a young child. She attended Fairmont Grade School, Baker Jr High, Grant Jr. High, South High School and East High School where she graduated from. She married Leo "Wayne" Pettinger and they celebrated 54 years before his passing. Mary Lou was his caregiver for the last five years of his life. She was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) 6-1/2 years ago and for most of that time has resided at the Avamere Transitional Care Facility where she was affectionately known as “Lulu”.
Both Mary Lou and Wayne were active members of the Masonic organization. Both were members of unity chapter #97OES. Mary Lou served two terms as Worthy Matron. She also loved building miniature dollhouses, knitting, crocheting, sewing (she made all the kids coats), playing bingo, and reading romance novels. She loved all the time spent with Wayne doing hobbies, flying line controlled airplanes, riding motorcycles, camping, and driving their matching red cameros. They loved watching and documenting their dream home being built in Jefferson County.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Lynn, her husband Wayne, her son in-law Brian Williams, her mother Hazel, her father Edward, her siblings: Betty, Dale, Lois, and Dean.
She is survived by her children: Candy Balerio, Eddie (Anna) Pettinger, John (Jennifer) Pettinger & Laura Mercado, her nine grandchildren: Tom (Sharon) Peirce, Cathy Peirce Greer (Buddy Greer), Rachel (Chris) Parys, Jason (Kim) Pettinger, Justin (Heather) Pettinger, Alicia (Ricky) Romero, Mindy (Karl) Graham, Courtney (Rick) Quitter, and Dreydon (Kayla aka Lulu) Williams. She is also survived by her 19 great grandchildren: Zach Peirce, Michael Mintken, Brandon Mintken, Julia Pierce Wallace, Hunter Parys, Madison Parys, Katelyn Pettinger, Joey Pettinger, Alex Pettinger, Pettinger, Taliesin Pettinger, Reign Pettinger, Lyonesse Pettinger, Lucas Romero, Matthew Romero, Andrew Graham, Kameron Graham, Carter Quitter, Kaia Quitter, and Kaliana Williams.
