Mary L Rivera passed away on July 21, 2026, at age 74. She was born on February 19, 1952, to Maria Acosta and Florentino Rivera in Denver, Colorado. Mary was one of thirteen siblings. She is survived by a large number of family members who love and cherish her.
Mary retired from the Denver Police department after 29 years (1979-2008) of service. Given her love of animals, she spoke most fondly of her time with the Canine Unit at the Denver Airport. Upon retirement, Mary found joy in taking care of animals. She did this personally for family and friends but also found time to volunteer at multiple animal shelters.
Mary enjoyed spending time with family and loved ones through gatherings, travel, and early morning breakfast meet ups.
Mary's favorite hobby was gardening. There was not a flower she did not love to grow. Her favorites were displayed in her yard (Roses, Peonies, Hibiscus just to name a few). Mary left a lasting impression on all who met her. She led with and modeled Love, Compassion and Kindness.
