

Maxine was born February 18, 1923 in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the daughter of Carl Hofer and Oval (Phillips) Hofer. She was a longtime resident of Denver, CO until moving to Roswell, N.M. in 1994. In 2004 she moved to Artesia, N.M.
In 1942 she was married to Bruce N. Jones in Denver, CO who died in 2002. She later married Lyman Arthur "Art" King in 1986 and he died in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son Eric Neal Jones, daughter-in-law Audrey, siblings Lester Hofer, Louise Ellis, Ferne Talmadge, Wayne Hofer, Velma Johnson, and Eldon Hofer; sisters-in-law Ruth Hofer, Bea Hofer, and Birdie Hofer; and brothers-in-law Woody Ellis, Bob Talmadge, and Don Johnson.
She worked for Denver Dry Goods Co. for many years and retired in 1986. Maxine also loved to quilt, sew, and was very active in church activities.
Survivors include her daughters Carol McCormick and husband Carl of Artesia, N.M., Kay Elliott and husband Tom of Denver, CO; sons Dave Jones of Denver, CO, and Sheldon Jones and wife Betty of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers Vincent and Merle of Denver; sisters-in-law Pat of Denver, and Claire of Symsonia, KY; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren Monica Lollar and husband Rick, Mike Jones and wife Sarah, Donna Northcote and husband Doug, Jason Elliott, Christopher Jones and wife Amanda, and Sarah Jones and fiancé Dan MacDougall; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Terpening & Son Mortuary in Artesia, N.M. with Burial arrangements under the direction of Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, CO.
Memorial services in Artesia, N.M. are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at House of Restoration, 1311 N. 1st Street.
Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, CO
