Millie grew up on a farm in the hilly part of northeast Nebraska near the town of Pilger during the 1920’s and ’30’s. She was accomplished, talented and active her whole life. She lived her nearly 101 years independently, especially after her husband, Jack, passed away in 1991 after 50 years of marriage. She had three children, Nancy, John and Bob.
At 17, she was the teacher in her rural Nebraska school and later went to college where she met her husband. She was generous with her time and talent, donating homemade raggedy dolls by the hundreds to charity and later donating her hand made knitting. She tutored needy children. When the family electronics business started, she taught in the Denver Catholic schools to supplement income.
She was active in PEO; in her Church, Wellshire Presbyterian Church; and in her sewing and knitting groups as well as in the community she joined at Brookdale Meridian. She lived in the Bonnie Brae neighborhood of Denver for fifty years and fondly remembered her many neighbors and the home she kept there for so long.
