Naomi Over, 85, a native of Colorado and an Arvada resident for 52 years, died Jan. 2011 from colon cancer. She was born Oct 24, 1925 in Florence, CO and has remained a Colorado resident all her life. Naomi was married to John Over for 20 years(deceased 1986) has 3 daughters, Karen Wolfe (deceased 2006) & survived by Belinda Kitchens (Broomfield) and Marlena Toohey (Longmont). She has 8 grandchilden, Candace, Kristin, Marc (MA) Shawn, Dawn, Angela (CO) Brian and Brandon (CO). Also 6 great grand children, Trevor, Cora, Cody, Savannah, Tayler and Brady. Naomi taught cake decorating through the Adult Education Programs at Emily Griffith Opportunity School in Denver and the Jefferson County Public School System for well over 20 years.During that time and for many years after was well known for creating beautiful wedding cakes for several hundred brides all around the Denver Metro area. After retiring, she pursued her interests in collecting antiques including her favorite, red ruby glass. She published 2 books between 1989 and 1995 on her ruby glass collection. Loving Denver history, Naomi became a Dosen at the Molly Brown Histrical House in downtown Denver and was well known for her costuming and fancy hats while conducting tours there. She also enjoyed attending functions of the Red Hatters Society in Arvada. Her bigest regret is not being able to visit Washington D.C. and tell them how to run the country, take care of their budgets and treat Senior Citizens with more respect and dignity.
