

Nola was born January 14, 1934 in Denver, Colorado to August and Blanche Vogt. She was one of five siblings; brothers Harold, Donald, Roy and her sister Norma. She grew up in Keenesburg, Colorado where she met Walter Plankinton. They were married June 19, 1952 in Raton, New Mexico. Nola took on the role of mother to Walter’s daughter, a darling toddler Nola fell in love with, Pamela Ann. Their son Michael Alan was born on December 1, 1955. Walt and Nola divorced in 1969. Nola worked hard at several jobs to support her family.
She married Alfred Eugene Womble on January 23, 1970. With this union came Gene’s three children; his son Phillip, and daughters Deborah and Lora.
Gene retired in 1985 and they made the decision to move to Missouri where they would be closer to Gene’s ailing mother. They bought land south of Stockton where they removed old buildings and cleared the land for their future home of 26 years. Their home was close to Hawker’s Point where they spent many hours fishing and boating. They loved watching the deer and wildlife roam through their yard and caring for the horses in their field.
Gene and Nola enjoyed traveling and visiting in Colorado with family and friends. Many wonderful times were had traveling to California with her brother, Donald and his wife Erlene. There was a memorable cruise from Maine to Novia Scotia with Gene’s daughters and their husbands.
Gene Passed away August 2, 2011 in Bolivar, Missouri and Nola moved back to Colorado.
In July 2016, Nola moved to Tucson, Arizona to be near her son, Michael. She loved her new home and enjoyed eight years of making new friends, playing cards, Bingo, Jigsaw puzzles, Crossword puzzles, concerts and dining out.
Nola celebrated her 90th birthday with many friends and family.
Nola passed away July 20, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona. She was under the care of Gentiva Hospice the last six months of her life and we thank them for taking such good and loving care of our mother.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Peggy) Plankinton, Pamela (Jamie) Moore, Phillip (Ravelle) Womble, Deborah (Burgess) Newcomb, and Lora (Lucky, deceased) Davis. She was blessed with ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, her sister and her great granddaughter, Siera.
