Norma Newens, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on June 2, 1933, in the town of Arvada, Colorado, to Fred and Gladys Greenfield. Raised in a family that valued hard work and togetherness, Norma carried these principles throughout her life, enriching the lives of those around her.
Norma married the love of her life, Charles J. Newens, affectionately known as Tarzie, on October 5, 1952, in Ft Morgan, Colorado. Their union was a remarkable one, spanning 60 years during which they raised three wonderful sons: Danny, Chuck, and Troy. Together, the Newens family built a foundation of love and resilience that would extend to future generations.
A graduate of Ft Morgan High School, Norma was not only a dedicated homemaker but also an adept bookkeeper. Her skills were instrumental in managing the family’s concrete finishing business and later contributed to her role at Suburban Redi-Mix. Her commitment to both family and work was unwavering, and she balanced these responsibilities with grace and precision.
Norma was an active member of North Federal Baptist and Trinity Baptist churches, where she found a community that shared her faith and values. Her passion for quilting flourished within these congregations, as she participated enthusiastically in the church’s quilting group. Norma’s quilts were more than just fabric and thread; they were expressions of love, crafted with care for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Norma cherished the time spent camping and fishing with her family, creating memories that would be recounted fondly for generations. In later years, she delighted in traveling with her siblings and their families, exploring new places and forging deeper connections.
Norma is predeceased by her cherished husband Charles, her son Troy Lee, her sister Ardith Campbell, and her brothers Fred and Wayne Greenfield. Her legacy continues through her surviving family: her sons Danny (and wife Carla) and Chuck, her grandchildren Chad Michael (and wife Amber), Stacie Ann Stein (and husband Gabe), Luke Allan, Zeb Forrest, and Miriam Overend, and her great-grandchildren Stella Marie, Jaxon Allan, Jarrod Michael, Jada Ann, and Addison Rae. Norma’s family was her pride and joy, and she was a special grandmother who was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Norma’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her love, kindness, and dedication to family and community are a testament to a life well-lived.
