Pat Fostvedt was born July 8, 1938 in Mobridge, South Dakota to Hilding and Lyla (Hagen) Johnson. Her family lived on a farm near Mound City and she spent many hours perfecting her 4-H projects. She loved attending church and Sunday School at Bethany.
She attended high school at Augustana Academy in Canton where she made friends and memories going on choir tours around the United States. Graduating in May of 1957, she married Dale Fostvedt on June 16th at Canton Lutheran Church. Two children, Terry and Gerry, brought joy to their lives. Pat was very active in the church teaching Sunday school classes for children as well as the Bethal Bible Series for adults. Pat enjoyed being active in her community, especially her work with the Jaycees.
The Fostvedts moved to Colorado in 1969 where Pat developed her love of art into a profession. Pat was a Signature Member of the Colorado Watercolor Society and the Rocky Mountain Water Media Society. Winning awards, jurying exhibitions, and teaching classes made Pat an invaluable member of the art community. Her paintings are included in collections both nationally and internationally.
Pat is survived by her children Terry Deane Fostvedt and Gerry Dale Fostvedt; her brother Dennis (and Fountell) Johnson of Canistota, SD; brother Glenn Johnson of Braga, Portugal; brother Jeff (and Lori) Johnson of Cumberland, WI; sister Sonja Taylor of Mobridge, SD; brother in law Christopher (Louie) and sister in law Sonja Fostvedt; her four grandchildren: Michael (and Alison) Fostvedt, Eric Fostvedt, Anakija (and Robert) Cross, and Karilea Burns; great grandchildren: Ella Dagmar Cross, Hadley Dale Fostvedt, Von Michael Fostvedt, and Liesel Dorine Cross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
