On September 8, 1935, Raymond was born to Matias and Aurora Alarid. He had a full childhood with his brothers, Sam, Mike, Jimmy, Richard, and sisters Aggie, Viola, and Bernice. Ray was the first in his family to graduate from high school and in 1956 he married the love of his life, Josie. He cherished their son Raymond, daughter-in-law Leanne, and Ivan. The couple also fostered many children and they loved and nurtured each one.
Ray retired from the Denver Housing Authority in 1998. In 2001 Ray and Josie moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico where he made many close friends through the Rodrunners Car Club and the local community. He was a master mechanic. His passion was classic cars including a complete rebuild of a 1952 Ford pick-up, and a 1951 Mercury Sedan that took many trophies in the car shows.
Ray had some challenging health issues, but he refused to let that keep him down. He was a fighter. Regrettably he passed away on May 9, 2023, at the age of 87. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and always be remembered for his willingness to help and share his vast knowledge and support.
