Rebecca “Becky” O’Brien, beloved wife, mother, gaga, sister, and daughter went home to Jesus on April 21, 2021, age 61. Becky was born on January 1, 1960 in Denver, Colorado to Raul and Alice Del Hierro. She was the eighth of 10 siblings.
Becky had her priorities, and it was witnessed throughout her last weeks. God was always Number One in her life. Her love for God was absolute and we know she is so happy to be with Him. Love was second. As she first started losing her ability to speak, her last words were ‘I love you’. She loved her family and all of her friends unconditionally. Becky always had a special way to make sure every family member knew that they were seen and loved. She was the matriarch of the family and was always there for them through life's ups and downs. She always made time for her friends and cherished spending time with them.
She was married to her husband Mike for 21 years. They worked as a team the majority of their lives. High or low tide, they wanted to be together. Becky’s great love and support contributed to Mike's beautiful life of sobriety.
Becky was a proud Mother of a Navy Serviceman, Tommy. She relished in his accomplishments throughout his Naval career. Not only did she love her son being in the Navy, she was always a patriotic to the Naval branch of the military. She was proud of her creative daughter, Alisha, who loves teaching, and supported her aspirations to become an art teacher. She bragged about her daughter, Jamie, who is a nurse and is doing wonderful work helping others. She inspired a love of music in her youngest daughter Jessie, whose writing also made Becky proud. All of her children have been supported and loved by Becky. Her God-centered, abundant love continued to flow to her grandchildren Eden and Sebastian. Gaga’s love with Eden was precious and divine.
Becky attended North High School and had countless friends, many of whom she was still friends with to the very end. Becky loved her experience at North High. She played piano beautifully in many concerts when she was young. She was also an amazing gymnast who was fantastic in all categories but thrived and shined on the balance beam.
Becky delighted in playing cards and Charades, and occasionally sang “Blue Bayou” at Karaoke with help from her sister, Maryoke, who always sang the final high note. She loved spending precious moments with her grandchildren, which included going to movies and restaurants, playing piano while they danced, and traveling. In her spare time, she enjoyed yoga and every now and then, Pilates. Whenever the weather was nice, she would go on bike rides with Eden, Sebastian, and Mike while enjoying the beautiful weather. She would NEVER miss an episode of 90 Day Fiance or Say Yes to the Dress. Becky loved theatre, concerts, and musicals. The last musical she saw was Rent with Eden, Alisha, and Mary. The last concert she enjoyed was Mercy Me at Red Rocks as a gift to Mike for his birthday. Becky’s love of travel was undeniable, especially to places with a beach.
Some things that define her was her love of Barry Manilow. She treasured him so much, she would go to his concerts whenever she had the opportunity! We all know that she loved clothes, but more than that were her shoes. She owned heaps of shoes, and would even change pairs mid-day! Inside those shoes were her cute webbed toes that were rare and interesting, and made her unique. Everyone knows her cooking was amazing, especially her famous chicken enchiladas and beans! Did we mention that she loved shoes?
Becky was the hostess with the mostess and loved to entertain and throw parties for any and all occasions, even the “just because” occasions. When she came home from the hospital, she ordered her family to ‘make sure you have a sandwich platter and a vegetable tray for our guests.’ She was a devoted daughter who cared deeply for her mother, Alice, and could be found visiting and caring for her at least once a week in her mother’s later years of life. Becky loved and was passionate for her involvement with Confluence Ministries. She would jump at any opportunity to volunteer and serve others.
She is survived by her husband Michael O’Brien, children Tommy Gallegos, Alisha Gallegos, Jamie O’Brien (Zach Belloni), and Jessie O’Brien, grandchildren Eden Gallegos and Sebastian Gallegos, siblings Mike (Coleen) Del Hierro, Yolanda Del Hierro, Loretta (Mike) Smyzinski, Guy Del Hierro, Late Raul (Vicki) Del Hierro, Jude (Cindy) Del Hierro, Mark (Joann) Del Hierro, Mary Del Hierro, Joe Del Hierro, Michelle (Paul) Chacon, Melissa (David) Eckhart, and Michaela (David) Smith, and parent-in-laws Patti O’Brien and the late Bill O’Brien.
We will love Becky always and forever and we miss her so much and take her with us in our hearts.
