Reina Inez McGrath passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at the age of 89. She was born on September 26, 1937 in Oak Park, IL to William and Madge Tesch. She grew up in a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright home in the community of Riverside and later earned a degree in Economics from Michigan State University where she met and then married her husband in 1963. The family moved around during those early years living in Philadelphia, Cleveland, Erie and then settling in Birmingham, MI where they raised two children, Mark and Cassie, who she was extremely proud of.
Reina’s professional journey was marked by ambition and loyalty as a District Manager for Tektronix in Atlanta where she built a vibrant community of lifelong, treasured friends. She was an avid golfer and tennis player. In her prime, Reina played in multiple tennis leagues around Atlanta and often partnered with her daughter Cassie in various doubles leagues. Reina also loved to play cards. The card games with family members during holidays were legendary and all knew she was a fierce competitor.
After retiring from Tektronix after 24 years of service, Reina embraced a life of adventure and leisure. She split her time between Atlanta and the breathtaking landscapes of Bozeman and Big Sky, Montana, where she enjoyed fly fishing and riding horses with her partner later in life, Earl Music. She also spent time in Phoenix with Mark and his family, especially during Thanksgiving holidays which were always a treat getting everyone together. In 2018, Reina moved to Colorado to be near Cassie and her family. Reina hardly ever missed a sporting event or school program for her grandson Trey, always sitting front and center.
Reina leaves a legacy of strength, independence, and style. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and loyal friend. She was known for her intelligence and her humor, and as a role model and confidant. She will be cherished for her thoughtful nature and her enduring spirit.
Reina is preceded in death by her parents and her son Mark. She is survived by her daughter Cassie, son-in-law Tim, daughter-in-law April, and grandsons Tommy (27), Jack (24) and Trey (14), along with many wonderful cousins living across the country.
