Rich Roush

Rich Roush, long time resident of Northglenn CO, passed away on May 22nd at the age of 87. Rich was born on August 7, 1933 in Joes, CO. He graduated from Crook High School in 1951. Rich earned degrees from Sterling Junior College, Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, and finally, a Masters of Education at Colorado College in Colorado Springs.

After graduating from Sterling Junior College, Rich married his beloved wife, Lauraine, on January 30, 1954. They celebrated their 67th anniversary in January of this year. Rich's first teaching job was in Chapel, Nebraska. In 1961, they moved to Denver where he was part of the teaching crew that opened Ranum High School in Westminster. He taught chemistry and coached the track and cross country teams for 30 years.

After retiring, Rich enjoyed golfing with his friends and traveling with Lauraine. He and Lauraine shared many travel adventures around the world. He frequently spoke of their sightseeing and dining experiences.

Rich loved sports. In high school, he played both football and basketball and ran track. He also played football and basketball in junior college. Continuing his love of sports, he coached football, and was the head coach at Ranum for both boys and girls in track and cross country for many years. He also enjoyed refereeing football and basketball games, and running the clock for basketball and wrestling matches. He spent summers scorekeeping for his sons’ baseball teams and his daughter’s softball games.

In addition to his wife of 67 years, Lauraine, Rich is survived by his sister Clarice Cross of Iowa; sons, Greg (Terri) and Scott (Jennifer) Roush; and daughter, Jan (Jim) DeBus. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Danny (Lisa) Roush, Kelly(Chris) Maness, Jill (Ashley) DeBus Doehring, Julie DeBus, Kaylee (Lucas) Burdick, Courtney Roush, and Rebecca Roush; Ella and Lillian Roush and Rylan Maness.

Celebration of Life Service -Committal to follow will be held on June 2, 2021 at 9:30 am at Olinger Crown Hill, 7777 West 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge Colorado with viewing from 9:00 am to 9:30 am.

Serving as pallbearers are Greg Roush, Scott Roush, Jim DeBus, Danny Roush, Chris Maness, Lucas Burdick, Mark Taylor.
