Richard was the first child born to Norman and Dorothe Elverum on August 10, 1951, in Denver, CO. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1969. After high school, he went on to college, where he decided his true passion was for carpentry. He loved creating something tangible with his hands and taking a project from drawings to a finished build. He always took great pride in the quality of his work and the materials he used to construct homes for families to live and grow in. His other passions included Amateur Radio, satellite tracking, building windmills, and capturing solar energy. His immense dedication and drive enabled him to teach himself how many of these activities worked to create a self-sustaining lifestyle that he could enjoy for the past nine years.
Richard is survived by his children, Richard L. Jr, Norman B., and Jennifer R., and his grandchildren, Richard A., Rayvn J.L., and Camryn E. Elverum. He is also survived by his brother, John, and his sister, Judy Ligrani.
The funeral service will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Ave Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, on September 15, 2023, at 10 am in the Pavilion of Reflection.
