Richard Lee Venn passed away on September 17, 2020 at the age of 78. He was born on October 24, 1941 in Lamar, CO to Winnie and Frieda (Austin) Venn. He was baptized on March 18, 1956 and was confirmed on June 24, 1973. While growing up, he worked on the farm and in the cattle sale barns. He was part of the square dancing “Dudes and Dames” that danced and clogged across several states. In high school he played trombone, sang in quartets and participated in track, baseball and basketball. He often made the claim that during his senior year he “weighed 103 pounds soaking wet.” After high school graduation he attended the barber college in Pueblo and then worked in Palisade as a barber for 10 years. He then began his professional career as a property tax consultant. He worked for Mesa and Arapahoe Counties as well as the State of Colorado.
He moved to Denver and on August 12, 1972 he married Sharon Zipperer in Loveland. He started Venn Property Consultants in 1992. Even while working he found time to get his Associates Degree. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church for over 30 years before transferring to Bethlehem Lutheran where he was active in choir, bible class, Lifelight, and was an usher. Dick was active in the kid’s activities such as Cub Scouts, sports and school. He enjoyed watching his granddaughters in sports, school concerts and programs. Over the years he attended more baseball and softball games than could be counted. He was an avid Denver sports fan. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping and teaching his granddaughters to fish. He volunteered at the National Western Stock for nearly 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Winnie and Frieda Venn, his sister Carolyn Sharp, and brother in law Donald Chandler. He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon, children Stephanie (Keith) Cembalisty, Stacey (Kurt) Winn, and Brian (Jaime Salek) Venn, granddaughters Mackensie (Michael) Post, Mattison Cembalisty, Briana Winn and Katelyn Winn. He is also survived by siblings Patsy Chandler, Janice (Robert) Oswald, Greg (Penny) Venn, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
