Bob served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on February 11, 1968. He carried his identity as a Veteran with quiet pride throughout his life.
A graduate of Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1955, Bob went on to Coffeyville Junior College in Coffeyville, Kansas, where he was part of the celebrated 1956 National Championship Football Team. His talent on the field earned him a recruitment to Colorado College in Colorado Springs, where he played two years as a running back. After one memorable performance, the Colorado Springs Gazette ran the headline: "CLARK! Delivers the mail!" Alongside his playing career, Bob also served as freshman football coach while earning his Bachelor of Business degree in 1960.
Bob built a remarkable professional life, spending three and a half decades in management with JCPenney, where he grew into the role of General Manager overseeing several stores. In retirement, he found a second calling at The Home Depot, where he worked with characteristic dedication for another 17 years before retiring at the age of 75.
In 1963, Bob married the love of his life, Juanita (Wani) Haley. Together they built a warm and close-knit family, sharing 44 years before Wani's passing in 2007 after a courageous battle with myelodysplasia. Their love lives on through their four children: Bobby (Kathlyn) Clark, Hayley (Tina) Clark-Johnson, Holly Clark, and Heidi (Paul) Wiesner, and eight cherished grandchildren: Makenna, Cayden, Brodyn, Charlie, Luke, Meredith, Alyson, and Frank. Bob is also survived by his sister Gayna Sue, his two beloved cousins Woody and Dean Schober — all of Texas — and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends, and wonderful neighbors who enriched his days and whose lives he touched in return.
Bob faced the end of his life with the same calm and grounded spirit that defined him — at peace with a life he was proud of, surrounded by the family he loved. He was not afraid, because he knew what he had built.
To us, he was the greatest man we've ever known.
— Bobby, Hayley, Holly, Heidi
