Born May 26, 1937, to Marjorie and Robert Pritchett. Bob had an incredibly challenging childhood stemming from many complicated issues that were out of his control. He overcame numerous obstacles and made the most of opportunities he was granted from athletics, employment and most importantly education.
Robert enlisted in the Marines and proudly served our nation. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance – Special Operations; an honor for both he and his country. Being a marine served Bob well and was a continual source of pride for him and our family. Bob took full advantage of his service and through the GI bill, finished his bachelor’s degree at Ball State University in Muncie Indiana. He later earned his master’s degree in education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley Colorado.
While at Ball State, Bob found the love of his life, Penelope. Robert and Penny were married for 62 years; known as Mom and Dad to Amy and her wife, Sherry and to Clifford and his wife Kelley. Bob and Penny are also Nana and Papa to four amazing grandchildren; Amy and Sherry’s sons Henry and Sebastian; Cliff and Kelley’s sons, Charles and Joseph. Papa loved his grandsons and connected with them all collectively and individually, as only he could. Bob sheltered, protected and cherished his family. He worked tirelessly to provide for the family; all the while made it seem effortless.
Bob spent much of his professional life serving the community of Bailey Colorado. He led Deer Creek Elementary School as an inclusive and innovative Principal. Robert was a basketball coach for a brief time and served several years as a volleyball coach. Bob was a member of the Bailey Volunteer Fire Department and participated in countless community-based events. Bob truly embraced his role as a servant to his family, his profession and his community.
Robert lived and amazingly rich life. He came from humble beginnings and worked diligently to make himself and those around him better. Bob took a tremendous amount of pride in his life and the lives of the people he loved. He will be sorely missed by all those he impacted but can rest in peace knowing he left this world in far better shape than he found it.
