Ronald Ellis McNeal aka “Pookie” entered this earth on March 20, 1966 in Conway, AR and departed on March 20, 2021 in Denver, CO. There was no coincidence that Ron was given to us and taken away on the exact same day, it was all a part of GOD’s perfect plan.
Ron was a loving husband & the patriarch of his family. Loved by many but Respected by all.
Born to Mildred Dean McNeal and Ronald McNeal, Ron spent part of his childhood in Arkansas, but his family relocated to Colorado at about age 5 years old. Throughout most of his life, Ron aka “Pookie” has spent most of his helping and serving in his community. He was very well known amongst his peers at George Washington High School and was even part of a brotherhood known as “B.O.Y.Z.” (Bring Our Youth up from ground Zero). This brotherhood gave him and young men, alike, a sense of purpose and allowed them to give back in a positive way. Ron soon met and married the love of his life, Sonya, on December 31, 1994. Ron and Sonya became inseparable, and their love grew to be an example for all to witness. If his wife was writing this, she would say, “He was the BEST husband & friend in the whole wide world.” There was never a doubt that he loved her and she loved him. They are what most consider “relationship goals.” Throughout their union, and although he only created one princess, Ron somehow managed to survive a house full of women, which included 3 bonus daughters. Some days where harder than others but they all grew to adore each other dearly and he raised & loved them all the same.
Naturally, Ron was a key part of so many families, including those of his 7 siblings but it was his kindheartedness and genuine love for others that we will miss the most. He was always willing to help whenever and however he could. He dedicated a lot of time trying to keep the peace and making sure everyone was smiling.
Ron learned and inherited a lot of his independence and work ethics from his father, whom he helped and worked with frequently. With his early knowledge of business Ron & Sonya became business owners. With the help of others, the journey strongly continues now as “McNeal’s Janitorial” services. He took pride in being the man of the house and providing for his family.
One thing is for sure, Ron aka “Pookie” definitely left his mark & his memory will live on forever!
