July 19, 1931 – February 26, 2016
Born in Franklin Township, Iowa, to Harry M. and Catherine R. “Mimi” Lott in 1931, Rosemary Lott Werner passed away peacefully in her home on February 26, 2016. Rosemary, sister Jean and brother Bob, grew up on the family farm during the depression. The family later moved to Julesburg, Colorado.
After graduating from high school in Julesburg, Rosemary attended the Cottey College for Girls, the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, and in 1960 she graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While working as a registered nurse, Rosemary met future husband Eugene “Gene” Werner, and they were married in 1965. She took a respite from nursing to help raise Gene’s two younger children, Barbara “Bobbie” and Charles “Chuck”. His oldest daughter, Beverly “Bev”, was married and living in Alaska. Rosemary eventually returned to nursing, mostly on a part-time basis.
Rosemary and Gene loved to travel. They enjoyed multiple excursions to Mexico for fishing, and various trips in the US, Canada, Central America, the Caribbean and Europe. Rosemary’s favorite trip, however, was to England and Scotland with Gene, her brother Bob and his wife Lynn. She was very interested in the history of those countries, and brought home many books and souvenirs to remind her of the visit. Rosemary and Gene also enjoyed spending time at their residence on Shadow Mountain Reservoir near Grand Lake, Colorado.
Rosemary was an avid reader of all types of literature, and she often read several books in a week.
Survivors include three stepchildren, Beverly Jones-Hanson, Bobbie (Sandy) Lewis, and Chuck (Connie) Werner, niece Linda (Grant) Ashley, niece Judi Broch, nephew Jon (Sandra) Rogers, grandchildren Wendy Werner and Amy Werner, and great-grandchildren William and Desirae.
Rosemary is preceded in death by her husband Gene, sister Jean Rogers and her husband Wilbur, brother Bob Lott and his wife Lynn, and granddaughter Kelli Jones.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of The Meridian Westland for their care, support, and love. In accordance with Rosemary’s wishes, no memorial or church service will be held. Her ashes will be distributed by her family at her favorite place in the Colorado mountains.
