I loved coming into work and see that he was my patient. We went through a lot together during his time at Porter and Sal definitely fought the battle against cancer valiantly. Between surgery and complications and setbacks, he was always strong for his family, and the nursing staff. I enjoyed our many conversations and getting to know Sal as a person (not just a patient) and his wonderful family. Even if he didn't feel well, he had a smile on his face and would press on throughout the day. He would share his food with me and I would bring him snacks. I hope he is enjoying all the lemon meringue pie he can take now!

Disclaimer: It was by chance that I found his passing through helping our manager with audits, and I know it was the Lord telling me Sal was now out of pain and discomfort. I am thankful for knowing Sal and pray for peace for his family during this time.
