Scott Raymond Bubke of Golden, Colorado unexpectedly departed this life on October 27th, 2020. He is survived by his wife Anne and two young sons, Owen Scott (2 years old) and Noah Pendleton (8 months). In addition to his immediate family, Scott is survived by his mother Bonnie Bubke, sister Jane Simoson, and brother in law Michael Simoson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as well as his sister Debra Bubke of Lakewood. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Bubke.
Born on August 23rd, 1966 to Raymond and Bonnie Bubke in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Scott was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church. After receiving his education in Cedar Rapids, he went on to study at the University of Iowa where he obtained his BA in Accounting. Scott graduated in 1988 and worked as a CPA in Minneapolis for a short period. Although Scott appreciated his Iowa roots, Colorado was calling, and he answered in 1990. Scott had frequently visited Colorado with his family, and later in college, so a love of the Rockies was instilled in his formative years. In Scott’s early Denver years, he worked in various financial positions. In 2002 he began a very fulfilling career at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakewood serving as the Director of Operations.
In 2017 Scott married Anne Pendleton Steptoe, a native of Bridgeport, WV, who, like Scott, loved the Rocky Mountains and alpine skiing. Scott and Anne were soon blessed with sons Owen and Noah.
Scott was an avid outdoorsman and most enjoyed sharing mountain biking, skiing, and rafting adventures with family and friends. As you would expect, Scott quickly introduced his young sons to all the captivation that is the Rocky Mountains.
Throughout his life, Scott was a man of strong religious faith, a man who made friends easily, a man who cared deeply about others, and in his most recent years, a man who was totally devoted to his wife and young boys.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 1st at 2:00 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with Scott’s long-time friend, Pastor David Dyer, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Second Wind Fund and the Tennyson Center for Children (links below).
