Shannon Mathew Leedy, of Thornton, Colorado, passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on December 15, 1969, Shannon’s determination and strength will never be forgotten. He is survived by his loving siblings Kenra Haftel and Nathan Burton; their supportive spouses, Jon Haftel and Julie Burton and his cherished nephews and nieces Timothy, Taylor, Nicholas, Jackson, and Lauren. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Connie and Darrell Larsen, and Betty and Ivan Burton, along with his devoted parents, Jay and Paula Burton.
Shannon fought through life with the same determination and resilience that carried him through to the very end. His contagious smile could melt even the toughest hearts, and while he had his moments of stubbornness, it was always part of his charm. He found joy in the simplest things—scribbling endlessly in his notebooks, watching his favorite movies on repeat, and taking long rides in whatever vehicle suited the occasion, be it a tractor, a U-Haul, or a van. Shannon’s life was one of quiet joy, resilience, and a deep connection to the world in his own special way. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to North Metro Community Services (www.nmetro.org). Rest easy, Shannon. Your laughter echoes in our hearts forever.
