Sharon Bower, age 88, went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2025, peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 16, 1937, to Glennard and Martha Johnson and raised on a farm near the Mississippi River in Illinois. She grew up alongside 4 siblings, Dixie Sensabaugh, Judy Kindred, Val Wickstrom, and Greg Johnson.
She loved the farm life and earned a 4-H Grand Champion ribbon. She had a reputation as a vivacious and spunky girl that would remain with her for her entire life.
She met the love of her life, John Bower, and the two were married on June 16, 1959. Not long after, they moved to Colorado, where they built a life rooted in serving God and loving others.
Together they welcomed two children — Shalyn in 1961 and Brad in 1963 — whom she served as a full-time mom and homemaker. Whether living in a small trailer during the early years or later in the home where she and John spent more than four decades, she created a warm, welcoming place with priceless memories with her children, grandchildren, neighbors, and countless friends. She is survived by her daughter Shalyn Roach and son Brad Bower, as well as her grandchildren: Heidi Botkin, Chad Roach, Megan Craig, Austin Bower, Peyton Bower, Zach Roach, and Grace Roach, as well as 16 great grandchildren.
As a faithful follower of Jesus, Sharon was known for her deep generosity, her unconditional love of others, her neatness and frugality, and her remarkable hospitality. Everyone who crossed her threshold was met with kindness, laughter, and something from her ever-stocked pantry—often including the “famous purple cow” ice cream treats that her grandchildren loved. Her gift-giving was legendary, filled with a sense of equality, fairness, and genuine thoughtfulness.
A woman of extraordinary resilience, she survived breast cancer, gallbladder surgery, and numerous other challenges with grace and determination. She loved her husband deeply throughout their 59 years of marriage and supported him faithfully through every chapter of their life together, including his work as a chiropractor.
She leaves behind family and friends who cherished her, and a legacy of generosity, kindness, love, and faith in her Lord Jesus in whose arms she now rests.
