Shirley A. Stovall passed away peacefully in Hospice care in Wheat Ridge, CO on June 22, 2020 at the age of 63. She had courageously battled cancer for the last fourteen months. Throughout her illness, she maintained a positive attitude and enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her friends and family.
She was born on September 24, 1956 to father William Stovall and mother June Stovall in Golden, CO where she lived and was raised with two brothers, Bill Stovall and Julian Stovall. Even at a young age, she had a love and passion for animals which led to her zoology studies at Colorado State University. After graduation, she continued her education in Italy to get her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, where she lived for thirteen years. While in Italy, she married and had a daughter, Katherine. In 1995, Shirley and Katherine moved back to Golden, CO.
Shirley was hired by Community College of Denver to start up the Veterinary Technician Program and continued to teach Biology courses for the next twenty years. Teaching became one of her passions, and she also loved hiking, dogs, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Shirley’s celebration of life will be on September 24th and be held at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery.
