Surin and I had ups and downs like all couples...but at the of the day we were best friends.  We traveled the world together.. We knew eachother better than anyone else knew us.  We had inside jokes no one else would get..I loved him and will miss him terribly..  He's the kind of guy who can make you laugh out loud.  So many funny stories,, too many too list.He also showed generousity by  giving  donations to churches, homeless shelters, and food banks.. I treasure the short time I had with him. 

My dad was an amazing father and he still is the best father as my precious angel. He was my biggest support and I cannot forget all the wonderful fun memories. Thank you for always being there for me and protecting me with all your strength. Aiden and I appreciate you being in our lives and making us smile and laugh whenever you had the chance. I’m still in shock that this has happened and my heart  is very heavy. Although, I’m going to keep standing strong for you, my beloved dad. Even though you were a single dad, you were the best father and mother. I remember before you sent us off to elementary school, you will comb all our hair back and put gel on for it to stay. It was hilarious cause suddenly I wanted to do my own hair. I remember your goofy dances and you tickling our armpits to bother us. Although, these kind of moments made us crack up laughing very hard. Also, I thought you were a good rapper whenever you sang your favorite rap songs. I was very impressed. I was also inspired that you did everything you wanted in life. Either that was driving your favorite cars, traveling, play your favorite sports or games, eat delicious food, and attend events that made you smile. It makes me do whatever I want to do in life because I realized life is way too short. Thank you for teaching me many things about life, because I couldn’t have done it without you. Because of you, I was able to purchase my first condo, drive a car or manual car, find a job, pay bills, cook, exercise the right way, get the best grades, and become a beautiful lady. You will forever be the brightest star in this world for me. I will continue your life legacy, and succeed the same cybersecurity field that you worked in. I love you very very much! I met Surin when he started at Cognizant 4 years ago. I quickly recognized his technical competence, but we really bonded over 2 things: the Denver Nuggets and our daughters. I won't comment about the Nuggets season, but I will say that we loved our daughters very much. 
I remember him asking me how I was able to let go when my daughter travelled to school in Wisconsin. His daughter was preparing to attend college in another state. It was a heartfelt question that didn't deserve a flippant answer. So, I told him that there are times when loved ones move away, but they are always in our heart and our thoughts. 
To Surin's family: please know that you were in his heart and his thoughts.

My dear brother-in-law.......  I write this with such a heavy heart.  I have known you since I met your sister (Nary) 26 years ago.  You welcomed me into the family unconditionally.   Aiden wasn't born yet.  You were young and had already had your fist child (Selena). 
 Although I say brother-in-law, I loved you like my real brother.  We had so much in common.  I will miss all of the family events without you and the  future excursions that we won't get to do together.  Nary, Bryce and I were looking forward to that trip that we never got to take with you to the Philippines.  I was also looking so forward to you getting another Ducati and riding together again.  Like the good ol' days.  Being with you was always light and uplifting.  Besides our time together, you raised two beautiful children (now adults).  You loved them both so much and were there for them when they needed you the most.  The thing that impressed me the most was that you didn't coddle them, but yet pushed them to rely on what they were capable of doing and beyond.  This only made them the best versions of themselves.  They are both strong and intelligent - just like their "Dad".   As everyone else has already mentioned, you were always the life of the party, the jokester, but in the end a very dear friend.  I will miss you my brother!

Our uncle, Boo Bei, would always go out of his way to help us out.  For example, back in 2018, our parents were out of town.  One day after school, we missed our ride home and we waited in the bitter cold for hours.  So as we sat, shivering in front of our high school, hopeless, there in the distance, we could see car lights turn into the parking lot. After the SUV made a complete stop, it turned out to be our uncle, Boo Bei. He’d been trying to reach us all day to tell us that he’d be the one to pick us up from school, saving us from the bitter cold. Our uncle was known for being very humorous, but because of that day, we remember him as a lifesaver. Boo Bei we will miss you very, very much and we love you!


I worked the last couple of years with Surin and we became good friends. When I first started as his co-worker, he showed me the ropes and helped me navigate my new workplace. Even in those first few days and weeks he made me feel not only welcome but like an old friend. When our workplace went remote we somehow became even better friends. Every Monday I looked forward to chatting with him about our weekends. We had some great and amazing conversations over the last couple of years. A lot of our discussions were around the Broncos and being about the same age we bonded over the players and games we recalled from our childhoods. When not talking about the Broncos or work, Surin and I discussed family and hopes and dreams. Surin was forever curious and I loved that about him. Whenever I was having a rough day, regardless of it being from work or personal life, I knew that within a few minutes of reaching out to him Surin would have me laughing in minutes and putting a fun spin on things. 

I will forever be proud to have been friends with Surin will always cherish the bond we had. Surin was taking from us far, far too soon but I like to think that because he shared so much joy and love in his time that God brought him home a bit early.

And to Surin, Godspeed and peace be with you my dear friend.


A Jokester, is a word that I can describe my uncle best. Some of my earliest memories were of him joking around with me. Despite how first memories of your uncle bullying you might seem bad; it was actually quite the contrary. This was my uncle’s way of being personal and making any environment light. My uncle was incredibly caring and surprisingly sentimental. A memory that stands out to my cousins and I is how our birthday presents from him were labeled as “from Yeay” the year after she passed. My uncle cared for his family dearly and would drop everything to help any member in need, and most importantly he brought laughter to our family. I never thought I’d see my uncle go so early, but we must cherish the many jokes and memories he left behind. Boo Bet, I will forever miss you, Rest in Peace. 

Surin was my cool younger brother. He was the one that would lighten up the room with his joking personality. Since we were only four years apart from each other, growing up he would always tease me as I was his younger sister. I didn’t mind as I know he respected me and always valued my thoughts and feelings. When we had our own kids, he teased my son non-stop. Imitating different quotes in a young boy’s voice. My son had turned three, and he told his Uncle Surin that he wanted his mommy to blow the candles on his birthday cake. So from that day forward, his greeting to my son was “I want mommy bo it.” I would tell Surin to stop and not give my son a complex. And he asked me in a concerned voice, did he give me a complex. I told him no and we would laugh and I said you’re right, you’re the jokester, that’s the quality we love about you - feel free to be you and continue to pick on my son. Surin is my son’s favorite Uncle. They shared the love of barbecuing. He taught my son some great ribs & lobster recipes. Surin was everyone’s favorite. He was the youngest of five siblings, so naturally we all cared for him - let’s protect our baby brother. Surin loved his family especially his kids, Selena and Aiden.  It tore him up when he had to leave his kids temporarily to build a career. A great father as he was, he called and checked on them constantly. Such a loving family man. Always there for important family events. I am grateful for our bond. We had so many great memories together from working out, camping, the incline, family vacations, and the list goes on. My heart is broken in a gazillion different pieces. He left us way too soon. We will miss him tremendously. Rest In Peace Surin. We love you so very much!!!

During this past Christmas my family and I were over at my mom's house. My daughter  Kiana decided to pull out our old family photo album and we came across some pictures of my cousin Surin, my brother Phanora and myself.  We just sat there looking at each one of those photos full of laughter!  Seeing my cousin Surin and brother's silly and funny faces they made towards each other. You can tell in the photos we had so much fun!   Boy, am I happy to have those photos and memories! 
As we gotten older and had our own kids. Everytime my family and I went over for family events and saw Surin. He would always have a smile, laughter and love joking with the kids. They always come home and say, "Uncle Surin is such a cool guy!" My husband Cori and I would always say,  "Yes, cool, funny, kind and very friendly guy..that would be Surin!" You will truly be missed cousin!!

The One and Only. 

When I first met my Fiancé Monique, she always spoke proudly of her family. One member of the family that continued to be mentioned in conversation was her Uncle, Surin. 

After I touched down in Colorado and met the family, Surin was one of the first to welcome me with open arms. Immediately making me feel right at ease and one of the family, Surin was incredibly kind, caring and was the life and light of any gathering. 

Surins’ personality was infectious and I instantly struck a bond with him. Surin was and will always be an uncle figure and mentor to me. I am extremely fortunate to have many fond memories in the years I knew Surin. From off-roading and family gatherings, to travelling to Florida for family vacation, Surin would always make sure everyone was involved and having fun all the way.

Making memories and creating experiences was something Surin had mastered, inspiring myself and many others to follow in his example of living life to the fullest, whilst enjoying the best with the best. He was a pillar within his family and was always someone who was there to support his family. 

The time my family came to visit Colorado will be a trip that I will always treasure. Surin welcomed my family with the same kindness and warmth. My family had an immense respect and appreciation for Surin and will dearly miss him. 

Myself and Surin bonded over being business owners, he would proudly discuss his business ventures. Surin always had a forward thinking attitude and hunger for building legacy for his family and children, Aiden and Selena. He kindly supported myself and my partners ventures and was always there to provide unparalleled insight and advice. 

Surin, you will be dearly missed.

There's no one like my Uncle Surin. He was all about traveling and the finer things in life and had this humorous demeanor about him. My brother and I pretty much grew up with him and his kids, Aiden and Selena. He took my brother and I to stay with him in Florida and we got to go to the beach every weekend! We got to do so many new experiences with him as kids, like when he took us to Busch Gardens and Universal. I'm so grateful for all of my memories with him. As I got older, he was really there for me through happy times and the tough times. He and I really bonded on business, entrepreneurship, and creating a legacy for our family. I really admired his drive, hustle, and ability to NEVER give up. He really taught me that even though you can go through massive failures, you can have massive success if you just endure. He never quit, and he always kept going. He inspired me so much. We used to have regular conversations about how to make it so we could just hang out and travel for the rest of our lives! He wasn’t afraid to take risks, he wasn’t afraid to make mistakes, and he wasn’t afraid to fail. He always told me that you can learn a lot from failures and said to me that “80% in life is just showing up.” He had so many big plans and I knew he was going to achieve whatever he set his mind out to do. We talked about everything - future travel plans, our BMWs, cryptocurrency, and just life in general. Every year for Christmas & birthdays, he would always give us nice premium things - because that was just his style. He loved his nice cars & epic vacations, and he made sure that we all got to be apart of that too. He had his way of making everyone laugh and feel special. I already miss him so much & there's so many things I wish I could have told him - like how much he really meant to me in my life and just thanking him for all of his wisdom and advice. From starting a business, learning how to shoot guns, to using a VPN, I learned so much from him. Love you Uncle.

We are all so very sadden and sorry to hear about Surin’s passing. What a lovely family man and so welcoming to us all when we visited Colorado. He had a great sense of humour and we would have loved to have gotten to know him better in the future. We are thinking of you all at this very sad time xxx

 Surin grew up with a sense of strong family support.  Even as a little boy, he knew how to make people laugh. As a grown man, he took an interest in our lives and support every single family function. He had a lot of consideration for others, while testing their reactions.  For example, he liked to tease his nieces and nephews to get a rise out of them.   They may not like at first, but they know how much he loved them.   If he did not like you, he would let you know – in some way, shape or form.  Some people may find that harsh, but he preferred to be blunt. If he liked you, he would fold you into his world.  He loved to do exaggerated impressions of you.  You may react with a “that’s not me,” but it made you suspect he may be onto something. 

When we were young, he would run out of words to call me by name and would take my biology textbook, flip through the pages to call me, “well you’re a mitochondrion with triphosphate spectacles” and we roared out with laughter.  He laughed because he did not know what that meant but it sounded good.  I laughed because of the way he pronounced the terms.

 Surin was a Christian.  However, at our father’s funeral, he accepted to shave his head and be a monk to honor our father’s legacy and show his undying love and support.  Family and friends thought he was a brave young man for going through with it. 

 There’s nobody like Surin. He was direct, decisive, and to the point. He knew what he liked and didn’t like. If he thought something was complex, he would ask to simplify it.  If you needed help, he would step up.  If you are feeling down, he would sense it and make you laugh.  That’s the little brother I will miss because he is simply irreplaceable, and was taken from us prematurely.  We love you way too much!

We were really sad to hear about Surin’s passing. 

When we visited Colorado for the first time, my family and I were welcomed by Surin with open arms, showing what a warm, friendly and pleasant person to be around he was. My brother always speaks so highly of him and considers him a good friend, mentor and uncle. 

It is clear that Surin has had a huge impact on everyone around him. His legacy will live on through his amazing children, Selena and Aiden, as well as his friends and family. Surin will be sorely missed.

The best way I can describe Surin is he was a great guy. There are so many fond memories I can remember when they lived in Florida. I am lucky to call him a friend. His best legacy are his children,Selena and Aiden are amazing  human beings . He truly was the best dad. I love you Selena and Aiden, throughout the years they still keep in touch with me. Wishing you and your family to find peace in this very trying times 

My dad is truly the best father anyone could ask for. He lived an amazing and adventurous life. His parents were Cambodian and they escaped the Vietnam war by finding refuge in Thailand where my father was born. Soon, they were on a plane and started living their life here in Colorado. He was the youngest of 5 siblings.
When he turned 19 years old, he had my sister - Selena. At 22 years old, he had me. He was a single father and took on the challenge of raising us both with some help from his mom and his sisters. He hung the pictures that Selena and I drew in his room by his bed. He cooked dinner for us every night. He even attended our school plays. As we grew older, he supported us playing volleyball and basketball. Our dad was our biggest fan, he attended all of our games and picked us up from every practice without ever being late. He would even practice volleyball and basketball with us on weekends. 
There are so many things that I can think about that my father has taught me. He taught me how to drive a manual car, how to shoot a gun, how to 4-wheel in a truck, how to open a bank account, how to be cautious of the world and some people in it… the list goes on. He truly had a beautiful soul as well as a big heart. 
When I came out as transgender, he accepted me for who I am. It’s not easy saying goodbye to a daughter and saying hello to a new son. Not every parent can do that - his acceptance of me shows how big his heart was. He truly just wanted me to be happy and to be my authentic self.
In our family, he was the jokester. He would jokingly pick on his 4 nieces and 4 nephews at every family get together. He definitely knew how to make the whole room laugh. 
He loved going on vacations to Florida, Cancun, Moab, and Las Vegas. 
My father had a successful career and side business. He was overall a smart, funny, caring, adventurous,  and accepting father.
My heart is saddened by his sudden passing. I just know he has found peace. 

I love you dad. 

THE SIGN-
Something remarkable happened today to me that I feel will bring comfort.  My dad Phil had led Surin to accept Jesus in his heart early on in our marriage.   I know Surin is in heaven, but a part of me felt confirmation would help me through this.  I was on my knees listening to worship music, raising my hands to the Lord.  After some time, I shut the music off, and I cried out to God to give me a clear sign that Surin was with him in heaven.  I asked God for it to be clear so I know it's not my own imagination.  Suddenly my dog Roscoe,  which Surin had given me, races up the stairs to me and immediately starts licking my tears away..At first I pushed him away, but he kept coming back persistently to lick my tears.  Roscoe does not normally lick my face, so I finally understood what was happening and I hugged him.  How awesome God is that  he  would not only bring me a sign of peace, but use the dog Surin gave  me  to deliver the message?
I almost wonder If Surin helped with the idea. Lol. I  recall while Surin was on earth he had alot of questions for God.. I imagine he is talking his ear off right now trying to get answers..LOL.  I hope this brings comfort to everyone as it did me.


What a pleasure to have worked with Surin. He will be missed.
My condolences to the family.

My first day at Cognizant was January 6, 2020.  My desk was located across from Surin's so he was the first colleague I made contact with outside of my leadership and/or the onboarding team.

Immediately, I knew he was kind, helpful, and capable.  What was not immediate was how hilarious he was and that we would be engaged in a battle of banter for the next two years.

Every encounter I had with Surin, without exception, left me feeling uplifted and positive.  He was always easy to talk to, joke with, and laugh with.

He made hard days at work much more pleasant, and outside work activities much more enjoyable when he was with the team.

We did not lose a colleague, we lost a brother and a friend.  I will never forget him and I will miss him a great deal.
