Tyler Edward Matus was born November 10, 1988 to Dave and Stacey Matus. He graduated from Pomona High School in 2007 and from Metro State University with BA in Aviation Technology in 2012. Tyler worked in the restaurant business from 2009-2017. He worked for Texas de Brazil in Denver as a server and bartender, in Albany and Syracuse, NY as an assistant manager and in Pittsburgh, PA as a general manager. From there he came back to Denver, CO and was a manager at Henry's Tavern. On a chance encounter, Tyler found himself interested in applying for a job at Federated Insurance in 2018, and he was employed there until his death. Throughout his career Tyler worked his way up from barback to manager in the restaurant industry, he made Chairman's Council with Federated Insurance, and he was a small aircraft pilot.

Tyler loved to play golf, baseball, football and many other sports. He liked to hike, camp, spend time with family and meet new people. The Rocky Mountains were one of his favorite places to explore.

Tyler had a great sense of empathy and often wore his heart on his sleeve. He loved fiercely, was extremely loyal and gave the best hugs. Tyler had a great work ethic and sense of personal responsibility. Tyler impacted the people around him by being genuine and big hearted. He was always ready with a helping hand, a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen. He was a great influence to his two nephews, and he adored them.

Tyler will be missed by his parents Dave and Stacey Matus, Arvada, Colorado; sister Santana Matus, Arvada, Colorado; nephews Brayden and Jaxson Richards, Arvada, Colorado; grandparents Gene and Sandy Coffelt, Rocky Ford, Colorado; Paul and Kip Malone from Boise, Idaho and many aunts, uncles, and cousins from all over Colorado.

My husband and I met Tyler just once when our son, Matt, introduced him to us. What a nice young man! His death is simply unthinkable, and I know my son and his wife absolutely loved Tyler and are devastated. Our prayers continue for you all.

I’m absolutely shocked...Tyler was one of the nicest guys I’ve been friends with. While our lives were busy, we could on a whim go golfing or riding like we still worked together every day. I was even going to buy a pass this year and catch up atop Keystone over a few laughs and bloody marys. Tyler will be missed by all who knew him...

Hey pal, I only knew you for three years but right from the beginning, you were one of my best friends, one of the squad!

Anytime the group got together, your presence made a marked difference in our dynamic. You were the perfectly positive one. All smiles. No negative energy. No bad vibes. The level-headed, reasonable one to keep the rest of us in check; you had our backs, friend. Always there for a one-lined zinger to put us all in a fit of laughter. Our favorite camping spot, opening Day, my birthday party, our adventures to the casino, and the Broncos tailgates are my favorite memories.

The jobins got together after your passing. Of the many legacies you left behind, you've strengthened our friendship with each other. The world is sorry to have seen you pass, but I can assure you it is a better place with you having been here. We'll do our darndest to keep your positivity, love, and friendship alive and thriving.

Until next time; see you on higher grounds.
- One of the Jobins

Dave, Stacey and family,
I offer my sincere prayers and condolences towards you during this time. I had the pleasure of opening Henrys Tavern with Tyler, And working a long side him for a couple of years. There was never a dull moment when Tyler was around. He was such an amazing person always laughing and smiling, where it was just contagious. He was like an older brother to me and I will forever remember and thank Tyler for all the wonderful memories that we shared.
Prayers towards you all, and Tyler may you fly high and keep spreading laughter and happiness wherever you fly.

Sincerely,
Chanda Dailey

Dear Matus Family- words cant describe what you are going through. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Tyler was a genuinely nice guy and a joy to work with. He was always positive and willing to go the extra mile to please everyone. He was a great friend&manager. He had a heart of gold and did the best he could at everything he did. He had faith in everyone he had worked with. I will never forget all our fun conversation we would have and all the laughs. Also, all the advice he had provided. You will greatly be missed. Rest In Peace, we all know you will be shining down on us up in heaven.

Yours truly
Amy
