Vera M. Bauer of Denver passed away on October 7, 2019, at the Sunrise at Pinehurst an assisted living facility in Denver at the age of 93. She was born in Phillips County, Colorado and was a former resident of Holyoke.
Vera graduated high school in Holyoke, graduated business school in Denver, and became a secretary for a Holyoke attorney.
Vera married the love of her life Albert Alfred Bauer, “Tade”, in 1947. Vera and Tade spent many years in Phillips County in the farming area until the 1950’s when they moved to Denver where they raised their three children. Vera began cleaning houses and ironing shirts and later worked for Sears. Vera cared for Mabel Richter through her final stages of life.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a strong, determined, and independent woman devoted to her family. Her house was always filled with love and great food. Holiday meals were her specialty and her children and grandchildren will say that her cauliflower and cheese was the best ever.
Vera loved to read, travel, and care for her family. She also had an artistic flair and was always working on one craft or another.
She is survived and forever loved by her son, Garold D. Bauer, and daughters, Deborah D. (Bauer) Edmisson and Diana L. (Bauer) Ryan.
She will also be fondly remembered by her surviving grandchildren, William Bauer, Tiffany (Bauer) O’Leary, Kimberly (Ryan) Smith, Tammy (Edmisson) Walsh, Paul Edmisson and Matthew Ryan.
She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A celebration of life in memory of Vera will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at the Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
