Vi was actively involved in church, state and city programs for a number of years. She received her RN nursing degree from the Mercy Hospital program in Denver and worked in mental health for many years. Vi later worked as a Broker Associate with Index Lease Exchange, Inc. She was a longtime member of Riverside Baptist Church singing in the choir and volunteering for special projects. Vi and her husband Robert worked with National Jewish Hospital, as sponsors in an exchange program for tuberculosis patients from Mexico for a number of years.
Vi was past Chairwomen on the Board of Health and Hospitals in Denver. Vi received awards from former Mayor Pena, Mayor Webb, former Governor Lamm and Governor Owens as well as a number of community agencies, for volunteer services she had performed. She served as a Republican District Captain for House District Four and ran for State Representative. She was an active person with the Republican party, worked as a Seniors Transportation Advocate and Mental Health Board Member. She persisted tirelessly in her community as a concerned advocate, promoting issues for the betterment of all, during her lifetime.
Vi is survived by her children Sandra Miskie, Sarah Jane Manczur, Arnold Swenson and step daughter Virginia Swenson; grandchildren: Christopher Miskie (wife Kathy), Kimberly Mendez (husband Jesus), Nathen Miskie (wife Christine), Andra Saunders (husband Chris), Arla Oullette (husband Scott), Brighton Swenson and Jude Swenson; 12 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and siblings Ernie Espinosa, Rebecca Espinosa and Eddie Espinosa. Vi was preceded in death by her husband Robert, step daughter, Susan Swenson and four siblings. Memorial service will be Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00am at Riverside Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverside Baptist Church.
