Warren Albert Miller, a proud U.S. Marine, devoted husband, father, and master craftsman, passed away at the age of 82 on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Born on January 27, 1943, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Rudolph Miller, Jr., and Crystal Virginia Miller.
At the age of 21, he answered the call to serve, joining the United States Marine Corps in 1964. He bravely served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966 before continuing his commitment to his country in the Marine Reserves until 1977. Following his active duty, he worked at the Illinois Foundry as a pattern maker before moving to Colorado in 1969, where he took on a role as a foreman at the Lange Boot Factory.
In 1970, fate intervened when he met the love of his life, Janice, on a blind date. The two married in 1971 and built a life filled with love, adventure, and family. He cherished time spent camping with his family and in-laws, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Also in 1970, he joined the Carpenter’s Union, where he became known not only for his skill but for his perfectionism—what he built will outlast us all. His first major project was the Straight Creek Tunnel, now known as the Eisenhower Tunnel, a testament to his craftsmanship and dedication. After decades of hard work, he retired from the Carpenter’s Union in 2005 but never put his tools down. In 2017, he began building the toolboxes that his family and friends have come to love—pieces of his legacy that will continue to serve and inspire.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janice Miller; his daughter, Wendy Miller; his son, Jessie Miller, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth "Beth" Miller; his brother, Lawrence J. (Terry) Miller; and beloved niece, nephew, and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Miller, Jr., and Crystal Virginia Miller; his brother, Dennis R. Miller; and his in-laws, Ab and Ruby Brannon.
A service to honor his life and legacy will be held on March 5, 2025 at 10am, at Ralston Creek Church (6425 Wadsworth Blvd) in Arvada, CO. A luncheon will follow.
Internment will be at 2pm at Olinger Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery - Crown Hill (7777 W 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033).
