Alice Marion Montgomery, age 91, of White Lake, formerly of Roscommon and Harlingen, Texas, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, at her home. Left to cherish her memory are six of her children: Ronald (Cathy) Lentz, Larry Lentz, Joan Allen, Robert (Georgia) Montgomery, Janet Montgomery, and Andrew (Jenny) Montgomery; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alice was born January 9, 1932, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin Franklin and Marion (Preston) Leonard. Throughout her life, Alice worked as a surgical nurse at Pontiac General Hospital for over twenty-five years until her retirement in 1980. Alice spent most of her summers in Roscommon, and during the winter she traveled to Harlingen, Texas. Wherever she was, Alice stayed very involved in her local churches. She spent many years lending her musical talents to the Highland Congregational Church, and the Roscommon Congregational Church as a pianist and organist. Alice holds fond memories of the road trips she took with her husband in their RV; she greatly enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Alice was a wonderful woman who will be dearly missed.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Marion; her first husband, Robert Lentz; her second husband, Robert Montgomery; her brother Clinton Benjamin Leonard; and four of her children: Lois Maitcand, Richard Lentz, Robert Lentz, and Anthony Montgomery.
In accordance with Alice’s wishes, cremation will take placed. A memorial gathering will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Highland Cemetery, 561 N. Milford Road in Highland followed by a memorial luncheon to honor Alice Montgomery.
