

Alvan Allan Erickson, a resident of White Lake, passed away on May 3rd, 2026. Alvin was born on December 11, 1935, to Victor and Victoria Erickson. He built a life centered on family, hard work, and his many passions.
He is survived by his beloved children, Mark (Trista) Erickson and Lisa (Mike) Smith, and by his cherished grandchildren: Shelby (Phil) Grant, Erica Smith, Shanna Smith, and Drake Smith. He is also survived by his sister, Hilmer (Elmer) Whipple, with whom he shared a close and enduring bond.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Josephine; and his three brothers, Arvid, Keith, and Elden.
A proud engineer at Ford, Alvin took great pride in his work and carried that same passion into his personal life as an avid car collector. He had a special fondness for classic Lincolns and Thunderbirds, and his enthusiasm for automobiles was something he delighted in sharing with others.
One of Alvin’s greatest joys was Robinson Lake in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where his family purchased a summer home in 1938. It was there that he felt most at peace being surrounded by nature and the people he loved. He took immense pride in introducing his family to the beauty and tranquility of the lake, creating memories that he wished to share with future generations.
Alvin had a deep love for his grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with them, along with his sister. He also shared a particularly close relationship with his father, a bond that shaped much of his life.
In addition to his many interests, Alvin enjoyed snow skiing and pursued it with enthusiasm, traveling to ski destinations around the world.
Alvin will be remembered for his steady presence, his devotion to family, and the joy he found in cars and his talent as an engineer. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will take place on May 7th, 2026 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Elton Black and Son Union Lake Chapel located at 1233 Union Lake Road. A funeral service will follow on May 8th at 10:00 AM.
