Christopher Jerry Pagel, known affectionately as Chris, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in Commerce Township, Michigan, at the age of 56. Chris was a man whose kindness and friendly nature touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly, and they raised three wonderful children: Luke, Vaughn, and Kennedy Pagel. He was a devoted son to his parents, Marley Pagel and Jerry (Cheryle) Pagel, a caring brother to Andy (Cam) Pagel and Heath (Jenn) Pagel, and brother-in-law to Andi (Bruce) Buckless. Nieces and nephews included Connor, Zachary, Braeden, Tyler, and Maci. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of his family, including his siblings, children, and the many relatives and friends who cherished him.
Born on April 13, 1969, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Chris attended elementary school in Ypsilanti, Michigan before moving to Manchester in 1977. Chris was active in many high school activities, including baseball, basketball, and football. He was a strong student and discovered a love for technology at a very young age.
Chris moved on to Central Michigan University, where he studied Computer Science. His days at CMU were some of his most treasured, and were where he met his dearest, lifelong friends.
After college, Chris began a career in computer technology, including systems administration and sales.
He was married to Kim on June 13, 1998, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Novi, MI. His life was then blessed with three amazing children, who were his greatest joy in life. Chris's life was marked by his tenacity and a strong sense of conviction throughout each chapter of his life. He had an undeniable drive to be independent and master new skills and talents. Chris had an incredible brain for knowledge and facts, and for what he called “useless trivia”. His love for technology made him the go-to person for computer issues, and his proficiency in this area was well known among his family and friends.
Chris was enthusiastic about team sports, especially the University of Michigan and his alma mater, Central Michigan University. He brought this same passion to the field as a coach for youth football and baseball for his children. His ability to connect with people and his genuine love of interacting with kids made him a beloved figure on and off the field.
His outgoing personality made Chris the life of any gathering. He was very social, thriving in the company of others, and he had a unique talent for making each person feel like a lifelong friend.
Above all, Chris cherished the time spent with his family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Chris experienced difficult times in the last years of his life. He faced many trying health challenges with grace, humor, and incredible resilience. Chris embraced support from family and friends and was always thankful for their love and support.
Chris was a man of great integrity and character—kind, friendly, and endlessly interesting. His stories, his laughter, and his presence will be deeply missed by all.
As we bid farewell to Christopher Jerry Pagel, we celebrate a well-lived life, a legacy of love, and the countless ways he made our world a better place. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
