David, known as Dave or DB to his friends, spread joy, laughter, and kindness wherever he went. The magnitude of his impact on the world may never be fully measured, but it can be seen in the legacy he leaves behind—in his wife and two daughters, his family and friends, and the many students and players whose lives he touched.
Dave was an avid sports fan and golfer who loved spending time on the water, whether boating, kayaking, or paddleboarding. He was always open to trying something new. For more than 20 years, David served his community through teaching and coaching in Lincoln Park, Dearborn Heights, Farmington Hills and Huron Valley.
He loved to travel, and some of his favorite places included Ireland, Portugal, Marco Island and the National Parks. But what Dave enjoyed most were the small moments in life: having a beer with friends, taking walks around the neighborhood, and cooking dinner surrounded by his family.
Dave showed his love in countless ways. He was well known for always having a great joke, a listening ear, a random science fun fact, the perfect piece of advice, or a crazy idea that provided just the right distraction. His boundless generosity and genuine care for others were evident in everything he did.
Dave is survived by his wife, Michelle; his daughters, Shanna (13) and Victoria (12); his mother, Linda; his sisters, Lisa and Janet; his nieces and nephews; his sisters- and brothers-in-law; and the many others who considered him family.
As a final act of generosity, Dave gave the gift of life through organ donation—a fitting reflection of the way he lived his life, always giving to others.
He will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter, and kindness he shared will live on in all those whose lives he touched.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 2:00-7:00 PM at Elton Black & Son Funeral Home- Highland Chapel, 3295 E. Highland Rd., Highland, Michigan 48356.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce St., Milford, Michigan. Visitation at the church begins at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the American Heart Association.
