Deborah was born on January 17, 1952 to William Byrd Wason and Adeline Mable Holt in Winona, Minnesota. She received her high school diploma in Trempealeau, Wisconsin and later graduated from the Patricia Stevens Modeling School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
During her career she was a retail manager for Braun’s Apparel, a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines from 1987-2008 and Delta Airlines from 2008 to present, and a Nu Skin representative. She was proud of her 33 year career as a flight attendant. Her achievements include being Flight Attendant of the Quarter multiple times and a nominee for Delta Airlines Chairmen’s Club. She was also Queen of the International Turtle Club. Deborah attended Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and First Christian Church in Vero Beach, Florida.
Debbie embraced life with nothing but kindness and love for those around her. Family, her husband Mike, her sons, her dog Caly, and friends were the light of her life. Some of her many passions were spending time and traveling to see family and friends, working in the flower garden, sitting on the deck at Cass Lake and enjoying the lake, sunrises, beaches, traveling the world and connecting via Facebook with hundreds of folks.
She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Michael D. Hawn. Proud mother of Kenny, Tommy (Jeanna), and David Holmes all of Minnesota. Beloved daughter of Adeline Mable Smith. Cherished sister, half sister and stepsister of Billy (Connie) Wason of Kentucky, Kenny (Jean) Wason of California, Cheryl (Jeff) Wason of Minnesota, Chuck (Angie) Shockey of Illinois, Patricia (Dean) Raeker of Minnesota, Jon (Megumi) Wason of Connecticut, Beverly (Jim) Wason of Oregon, Vicky (Mike) Wason of Utah, David (JoAnn) Mosier of Wisconsin, Alan Thomas Mosier of California, and Kathy (Tom) Kampa of Wisconsin. She is preceded in death by her father, William Byrd Wason and her beloved dog Caly. She will be missed by her flight attendant family, cancer friends, neighborhood family and children, and everyone she knew from her travels abroad —especially Germany and Brazil.
We will all miss her beautiful smile, brown eyes, silliness and kind heart.
”GOD BLESSED DEBBIE’S LIFE TO BE A BLESSING TO US ALL”
TOGETHERNESS: ”Death is nothing at all—I have only slipped away into the next room. Whatever we were to each, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be the household word it always was. Let it be spoken without effort. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past: nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before—only better, infinitely happier and forever—we will be all one together with Christ.” ~ HENRY SCOTT HOLLAND
