Dennis Howard Caperton, age 59, of Commerce Township, passed away May 14, 2021. Beloved husband of Donna Koolthong-Caperton. Loving stepfather of Kateri (Bill) Sole and Zachary (Susan) Koolthong. Treasured stepgrandfather of Julian VanDouser. Dear brother of Michael Caperton, Wendy (Troy) Gauze and Tammy Caperton. Proud uncle of Jason Caperton, Adriana Ramos, Alexcia Caperton and Mariah Caperton. Dennis was preceded in passing by his parents, Howard Caperton and Sally Cleveland; and his brother, Kenneth Caperton.
Dennis was loved by everyone! His home was a safe haven for many, no one was turned away. He loved to fish and especially ice fish. Dennis loved sports and could not get enough of the Detroit Tigers or Detroit Lions. Music was special because Dennis was able to appreciate all music and loved to sing Karaoke (Joe Cocker) and make up words to songs as he went along. Dennis was an avid gardener and learned to can his tomatoes and peppers; he loved to cook and BBQ. Dennis enjoyed traveling and finding a new adventure and learning new things about his travels (Norton Grape of Virginia).
Dennis was stubborn, but loyal and dedicated. He spent years at Bob's Pizza Palace as a pizza maker. He also worked as a production baker at Sourdough Bread Factory, learning the fine art of baking rye bread and braiding sub buns. He also spent time at Hiller's Market in the bakery where he learned to ice cakes, which he said if he could ice a cake, he could complete dry wall. Dennis also loved to cook and BBQ. He fancied himself with his own BBQ sauce for his ribs!
Most of all, Dennis never disrespected anyone unless he felt he was disrespected. He loved his wife and called her children his. He was very proud of all their accomplishments and loved when Zachary was in college. Zachary could spin a pizza just like Dennis. Dennis enjoyed calling Kateri his daughter with different eyes and making a special pizza for her when she was on the way home from work. Dennis was very proud of Julian who he could say was his grandson and loved to watch him grow and share a few special handshakes and hugs with him. Dennis loved all the members of his family and was proud of each of his nieces and nephews and all their accomplishments. He was especially proud of Jason, as he was able to watch him bowl from time to time.
