

Donald Joseph Drouillard, age 83, of Crest Hill, Illinois and formerly of Houghton Lake, Michigan, born August 5, 1932 in Detroit Michigan and passed away peacefully July 21, 2016 in Naperville, Illinois surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Kathleen “Kaye” née Cronin since 1952. Loving father of Gary (Debbie), the late Kathy, Jim (Lynne), Tim (Kim), John (Deanna) and Julie (Jeffrey) Johnson. Proud grandfather of Angie, Amanda, Brittney, the late Shawn, Eric, Heather, Jordan, Dianna, Emily, Dylan, Kaylee and Aran. Treasured great-grandfather of Scout, Hunter, Piper, Grace, Daniel, Shawn, Bradley and Ryan. Dear brother of Virginia Carroll and preceded in death by siblings, Evelyn Steele, Daniel Drouillard and Alice Nichols.
Don served proudly aboard the U.S.S. Philip DDE 498 in the Pacific theatre from 1952-1956, while serving in the Pacific operation in the Bikini Atoll, he witnessed the Hydrogen Bomb Testing. After the service he worked for Plasticles hanging signs. He installed the letters, HITSVILLE USA on the Motown Museum in downtown Detroit. He retired as an electrician from IBEW Local 58 in 1995. Don was a member of the VFW post in White Lake, Michigan, the Knights of Columbus and the Monaghan Council in Livonia, Michigan. Don and Kaye owned a ceramic shop, Kaye’s Ceramics, in Union Lake, Michigan from 1981-1996. They enjoyed many trips together over the years. Don also loved watching classic movies; He liked listening to big band music. Don was truly a great man; honest, hardworking, dedicated, respectful of all people, a leader and a one of a kind human being. He enjoyed spending time with his family and extended family including his many nieces and nephews. He always had a special place in his heart for the Murphys/Duggans. Don will be missed.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00am (In State 10:00am) at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Road, White Lake. Burial will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 2:00pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation - Cardiology, envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
