Donald Albert Lindval passed away suddenly on April 13, 2014 at his residence in St. Clair Shores Michigan. He was 82 years old. Donald was born April 21, 1931 to parents Albert Lindval and Jennie (Erickson) Lindval. He married Jeanne Pazun in 1952. Donald served in the US army in Trieste, Italy during the Korean conflict working in the heavy weapons unit. After serving he attended Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland Ohio and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He went on to earn a Master’s degree from the Chrysler institute of Engineering and then worked for Chrysler for 32 years as an automotive engineer.
Donald was an avid motorcycle rider from a young age. His father built the first mini motorcycle for Donald at age seven as witnessed in “Ripley’s Believe it or Not” publication. He later built and mapped many off road trails in Northern Michigan and served as president of the Tri County Chapter of the Cycle Conservation Club. He also enjoyed camping, sailing, trail riding, and traveling with his family for many years. He was a kind hearted and hard working man. He always had several diverse projects going at once and was always there to help out or fix something for his family, neighbors, and friends. He was very active in his Shorepointe Village Assisted Living community and took on several small jobs to help out in the community there.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Simon Austin of Ridgecrest, California; son Kevin Lindval of Harrison Township, Michigan; and granddaughters Emma and Alexis Austin.
A veteran’s service followed by a celebration of life will be held in June in White Lake Michigan. Private cremation and final arrangements provided by Elton Black and Son in White Lake.
