Doug was born in Sandusky, Ohio on May 27th, 1976. He graduated in Fremont from St. Joseph's Central Catholic School in 1994 and continued on to receive a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron in 1999.
Doug was married to Michele on June 10th, 2006; they were married for 19 years and welcomed three wonderful daughters together. Together they made it their mission to show each of them how much they were loved daily and to go on fun adventures and vacations when they could.
Doug worked as a mechanical engineer for Stellantis (aka Chrysler and its many other name sakes over the years) since 2000. He truly enjoyed his job working in driveline and all his trusted co-workers throughout his career. He enjoyed making homemade pizza with his children and gardening in his yard (even though wild animals ate it all).
Doug is survived by his wife Michele; daughters Kayli, Avery, and Emersyn; brother Philip (Renee) Nieset, sisters Julie (George) Nieset, Emily (Pete) Keen, and brother-in-law Jeff (Andrea) Stout; many nieces and nephews including Jake Nieset, Nick Nieset, Ben Nieset, Novah Hardebeck, Abby Keen, Lily Keen, Carter Stout, Layla Stout, Gemma Stout, and Josie Stout; and many other family and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Barbara Nieset; sister Catherine; grandparents Viola and John Liptok, and Luceille and Paul Nieset; great aunt Inez Renner and many others.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 10, 2026 at St. Patrick Church, 9086 Hutchins Rd., White Lake, MI 48386. Mr. Nieset will lie in state at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow the funeral at White Lake Twp. Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Genisys Credit Union for Douglas L. Nieset and Michele Nieset Family Trust or given to Michele to support future needs of Doug's Children. There is also a GoFundMe link online if preferred https://www.gofundme.com/f/nieset-family-cancer-battle
The family of Douglas Nieset wishes to thank all of his physicians at Michigan Medicine and staff that treated him at Chelsea Hospital for sharing his humanity and doing all they could to give him more quality time.
