Edward Alan Cates, age 76 of Stuart, Florida, passed away on April 16, 2023 in South Lyon, Michigan. Edward was co-owner of Cates Electric in Royal Oak, Michigan before retiring. He loved the water and spent many wonderful days boating in the summer sun. He was also a member of the Jefferson Beach Yacht Club in St. Clair Shores. Ed was a proud United States Army Veteran.
He is survived by his children: Matthew (Jen) Cates and Rachelle (Hadrin) McCoy; his grandchildren: Jacob, Maggie, Stella, Beau, Rylan and Reese; his siblings Don Cates, Christina (Richard) Johnson, Tom (Cathy) Cates and sister-in-law Debbie Cates. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda and his siblings Ann Hanks and Mark Cates.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in Florida at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
